Treaty Interpretation Under the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties: A New Round of Codification By Chang-fa Lo
English | PDF,EPUB | 2017 | 368 Pages | ISBN : 9811068658 | 6.45 MB
This book is devoted to an idea of a second round of codification of certain new rules for treaty interpretation. Currently, treaty interpretation is guided by Articles 31 through 33 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (VCLT). The fundamental rule is that a treaty shall be interpreted in good faith in accordance with the ordinary meaning to be given to the terms of the treaty in their context and in the light of its object and purpose.
These rules lay the foundation for treaty interpretation. They represent the first round of codification of the contents of some previous customary international law rules. The book argues that the current rules are overly simplified. After almost fifty years of codification of the VCLT, the codified text in it is practically insufficient in addressing some traditional treaty interpretation issues (such as the interpretation involving time factors or technology development) and in coping with some new development of international law (such as the diversification and fragmentation of international treaties) and new challenges (such as the need of coordination between different treaties and the need of introducing external values, including human rights, into a treaty through treaty interpretation process). The book further argues that there is a need to have a second round of codification so as to incorporate new rules into the VCLT to be followed by treaty interpreters to make treaty interpretation more consistent and transparent, and more in line with the shared value of international community. The book proposes the contents of certain new rules to be considered as the new codified rules for treaty interpretation.

Eurasian Business Perspectives: Proceedings of the 20th Eurasia Business and Economics Society Conference - Vol. 1 By Mehmet Huseyin Bilgin
English | PDF | 2017 (2018 Edition) | 389 Pages | ISBN : 3319679120 | 6.92 MB
This volume presents selected papers on recent management research from the 20th Eurasia Business and Economics Society (EBES) Conference, which was held in Vienna in 2016. Its primary goal is to showcase advances in the fields of accounting, auditing, marketing, and human resources in emerging economies. This volume is unique in its special focus on empirical research perspectives from countries such as Lithuania, Russia, and the Visegrád Group (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia), among others.

Demographic Transition, Labour Markets and Regional Resilience By Cristina Martinez
English | PDF | 2017 | 325 Pages | ISBN : 3319631969 | 17.1 MB
This book discusses the question of how a regional economy can develop under the influence of an ageing and declining population, and how regional development policies can help make labor markets more resilient and more inclusive. As the greatest impacts of demographic change and policy and fiscal challenges can be observed at the local level, examples from European, North American and Asian regions are combined to present a comprehensive, global range of strategic solutions from different policy contexts. The book shows how institutions, organizations and communities can enhance their pathways for sustainable development through the intelligent management of their demographic transition, and offers a synthesis of valuable lessons and strategies.

Vector Variational Inequalities and Vector Optimization: Theory and Applications By Qamrul Hasan Ansari
English | PDF,EPUB | 2017 (2018 Edition) | 517 Pages | ISBN : 3319630482 | 14.34 MB
This book presents the mathematical theory of vector variational inequalities and their relations with vector optimization problems. It is the first-ever book to introduce well-posedness and sensitivity analysis for vector equilibrium problems. The first chapter provides basic notations and results from the areas of convex analysis, functional analysis, set-valued analysis and fixed-point theory for set-valued maps, as well as a brief introduction to variational inequalities and equilibrium problems. Chapter 2 presents an overview of analysis over cones, including continuity and convexity of vector-valued functions. The book then shifts its focus to solution concepts and classical methods in vector optimization. It describes the formulation of vector variational inequalities and their applications to vector optimization, followed by separate chapters on linear scalarization, nonsmooth and generalized vector variational inequalities. Lastly, the book introduces readers to vector equilibrium problems and generalized vector equilibrium problems. Written in an illustrative and reader-friendly way, the book offers a valuable resource for all researchers whose work involves optimization and vector optimization.

Market Research: The Process, Data, and Methods Using Stata By Erik Mooi
English | PDF,EPUB | 2017 (2018 Edition) | 429 Pages | ISBN : 9811052174 | 17.87 MB
This book is an easily accessible and comprehensive guide which helps make sound statistical decisions, perform analyses, and interpret the results quickly using Stata. It includes advanced coverage of ANOVA, factor, and cluster analyses in Stata, as well as essential regression and descriptive statistics. It is aimed at those wishing to know more about the process, data management, and most commonly used methods in market research using Stata. The book offers readers an overview of the entire market research process from asking market research questions to collecting and analyzing data by means of quantitative methods. It is engaging, hands-on, and includes many practical examples, tips, and suggestions that help readers apply and interpret quantitative methods, such as regression, factor, and cluster analysis. These methods help researchers provide companies with useful insights.
